I think the mechanic who owns it is wanting $30 K rolled out and flying. There's a GC in pieces in my hangar (not my airplane  ), that's waiting for a buyer. There are a lot of 7 AC and GC Champs around here. It would be hard to go wrong with either a good Taylorcraft or a good Champ. He bought fuel, looked on the map, and plotted a new course back. Hope, Arkansas, was the name of the place. One of them got lost, and running low on fuel landed in a little strip in Arkansas surrounded by trees. Cross countries become a different planning issue, but they were when we had students in the Champ. When I went to light sport rules, I looked at one Champ available near by, it had lots of problems, so I looked at J3's and paid more, I guess mostly for the cool factor as some say, but it is one nice flying airplane and real fun. More money for one, so probably why you didn't mention it. With a good VOX intercom, conversations can be carried out at normal talking level so no more difficult to communicate than with side by side. T-craft may be wide enough for two your size, but how big is the instructor? Much more "space" per pilot in a tandem configuration. I soled in a Champ 7AC, and later instructed in it and that airplane was so much easier to get in and out of, and so much better sealed from air leaks, and significantly faster that the open cowl J3's, and a true honest by-the-old-book trainer.
